A stop-motion documentary of an art quilt made from leather, batik, lingerie, a kangeroo costume, cottons and evening gown material. Commissioned to celebrate a special family, the raw-edge interwoven style is rich with golds and browns. The shadow portrait in the center of the quilt is done in 7 sepia colors and the family photographs were put onto cloth using ink jets. There are antique buttons and metal pieces found in a treasure trunk in a New England attic. There is no way to show you on You Tube the richness, texture and depth of this piece, but I hope it’s fun to watch how it is done! Please feel free to visit my website or to leave comments.

Türkler binlerce yıla üç kıtaya uzanan kültürleri ile, birbirinden farklı, birbirinden güzel ama çoğu dünyaca pek bilinmeyen birçok el sanatının mimarı ve uygulayıcısıdırlar. İşte bu el sanatlarının en köklülerinden biri de yorgan sanatıdır. Yorgan sanatının geçmişinin nerelere kadar uzandığını görmek için “Yorgan” kelimesinin kökenine şöyle bir göz atmak yeterli olur. Yorgan kelimesinin kökenine ilk olarak Uygur yazıtlarında “Yourgan” biçiminde rastlanır. Kelime o günden bugüne “Yorgan” biçimini alarak çıkagelmiş ve önemli bir geleneğe ve el sanatına da isim olmuştur. Ama bugün, doğanın tüm canlılığının; en çarpıcı renklerinin, çiçeklerinin, kuşlarının hayranlık uyandıran motiflere dönüşerek odalara yansıdığı bu sanat dalı ve onu yaşatan sanatkarlar da oldukça azalmış, yok olmaya doğru gitmektedir.
